The reality is there’s just more great ideas than capital! You can have the greatest product unknown to mankind, but zero investors, due to the lack of capital and available investors. Join us along with guest speaker, Andy Cothrel, Entrepreneur In Residence for the Dayton Development Coalition’s Entrepreneurial Signature Program and President of Blue Marble Medical, LLC as we discuss:
- the ‘funding ecosystem’
- drivers of risk and return potential
- what investors look for when screening potential deals
Materials will be distributed electronically, so feel free to bring your tablet/laptop and questions along!
Box Lunch Request (optional)
All attendees have the option of purchasing a box lunch for a $9 fee. The lunch includes a whole sandwich (turkey, ham, or chicken), chips, a pickle, a cookie, and one beverage. Orders for this session will be from The Honey Baked Ham Company.

Speaker Bio
Andrew Cothrel (Andy) has over 20 years of experience with medical products & life sciences – spanning start-ups to giants, across all phases of the business cycle, and across several product classes – has created the right combination of operational, financial, commercial, technical, and organizational know-how to lead innovative medical products companies to success. Andy's focus is on executive leadership and advisory/consultative/coaching roles that leverage my broad experience and expertise in the medical device/diagnostics/life sciences business to start, grow, or turn around businesses in those fields.
Nutshell Background:
17 years of “corporate giants” experience in medical products/life sciences, rising through roles in R&D, engineering, manufacturing, strategy, global projects (Japan, Puerto Rico, Germany), and general management at Abbott Labs, Boehringer Mannheim, and Roche Diagnostics, culminating in a five-year Vice President/Site Manager role at Roche.
6 years of early-stage experience, primarily in the last 3 years focused on C-level roles and M&A/due diligence.
Experience with in-vitro diagnostic, orthopedic, and emergent/critical care medical devices, and life science research tools/reagents.
A wide variety of functions/roles: general management with full P&L responsibility; business development/sales; long-range strategy & execution; M&A, including due diligence and integration planning/execution; cost/margin control; reporting; asset/cash management; capital formation; resource utilization; full development chain & supply chain, from R&D to development to manufacturing to distribution, including virtual and outsourced development and supply chains; compliance; process improvement/cost reduction; new site construction & start-up; quality control/assurance/systems; logistics; technology transfer.
